This International Standard specifies the characteristics of towing winches, having electric, hydraulic, diesel or steam drive, which fulfill the functions of hauling, veering, holding and storing towing rope on drum(s). Bollard pull is stated in the table. It does not consider fibre rope handling gear but does not exclude its use.
