This Recommendation relates to connectors with closed ends for printed wiring boards having a nominal thickness of 1.6 mm (0.063 in). These connectors are distinguished by the following parameters: a) contact spacing: 2.54 mm (0,1 in); b) mating either with a board mounted connector or with edge board contacts as defined in IEC Publication 171, Fundamental Parameters of Connectors for Printed Wiring Boards; c) socket contacts which will mate with a board mounted connector having an over-all thickness between 1.40 mm and 1.98 mm (0,055 in and 0,078 in). For greater contact reliability, the contacts may be on both sides; d) guiding before mating of contacts.
