These recommendations relate to rotary wafer switches for use in equipment for telecommunication and in electronic devices employing similar techniques. Switches covered by these recommendations have electrical ratings such that the voltage does not exceed 1000 V and the current does not exceed 5A (r.m.s. values). To establish uniform requirements for: a) the electrical, climatic and mechanical properties as well as safety aspects; b) test methods; c) interchangeability and compatibility; d) classification of switches into groups according to their ability wo withstand extremes of temperature and humidity.
