This Recommendation covers the performance and the corresponding methods of test of electric motor-operated propeller fans of the cabin type not exceeding 400 mm (16 in) and ceiling type not exceeding 1500 mm (60 in) in diameter for use on single-phase a.c. circuits and d.c. circuits not exceeding 250 V, and intended for air circulation in living spaces in ships. Associated speed regulators, if any, are included. This Recommendation does not cover fans used for intake and exhaust. This Recommendation also does not apply fans for use in hazardous locations where it may be necessary to have flameproof enclosures. The fans covered by this Recommendation shall conform to the IEC Recommendation for safety requirements for fans and regulators (under consideration), as far as safety requirements are concerned.
