Industrial-process measurement and control terms and definitions are intended to be specific terminology for describing the characteristics, specifications and certified qualification of hardware and software systems and system elements. This specific terminology is likewise intended to be used for defining additional terms relating to operating conditions and influences to which industrial-process measurement and control equipment is exposed. It is hoped that this terminology will also be adopted for use in education and publications.
