This International Standard specifies a titrimetric method for the determination of the glycerol content of commercial soaps, excluding compounded products. This method is applicable to soaps with glycerol contents equal to or greater than 0,5% (m/m). This method is not applicable in the presence of organic compounds containing more than two hydroxyl groups on adjacent carbon atoms.
