This standard describes a photometric method for the determination of the total cyanide content of water. The standard applies to any kind of water with cyanide contents from 1 µ g/l, represented as cyanide ions. Some volatile organic compounds, such as formaldehyde, can interfere with the determination. Interference by sulphides can be neutralized by adding a cadmium salt.
