This recommendation relates to plastic film dielectric rotary variable capacitors, without trimmers, Grade 2, which can be continously varied throughout their normal life. These capacitors are used for tuning purposes in equipment for telecommunications and in electronic devices employing similar techniques. They are normally provided with a control spindle to which a knob, dial or drive may be fitted. This recommendation may also be applied to plastic film dielectric tuning capacitors tuning with trimmers provided that, with the trimmers set at their minimum capacitance position, the whole of the requirements of this recommendation are satisfied. The trimmer should be separately tested to the relevant specification.
