scope:
This standard is applicable to nuclear reactor protection systems. It is also applicable to temporary installations which are part of the protection system (for example, auxiliary equipment for commisioning test and experiments). Section Two is intended particularly for the cabling of the protection system. The object of this standard is: in Section One: to identify a certain number of possible causes of failures and to lay down, taking these causes into consideration, a set of basic rules to be followed when designing a protection system in order to ensure that its purpose is fulfilled in the best possible way. These rules apply to the protection systems as a whole; in Section Two: to give requirements to be fulfilled for cabling separation within a reactor system. Additional requirements relating to availability and detailed requirements for the elimination of electrical interference are not given in this standard.
