scope:
This Draft European Standard outlines European Standards for the evaluation of wood preservatives in order to facilitate their use in order to assist the international exchange of views in this field and, in particular, to allow the extension of homologation between contries. Other things being equal, these methods characterize the intrinsic qualities of the preservative, regardless of the industrial techniques used to apply them and the nature of the wood liable to the treated (factors which obviously have to be taken into account for the practical use of the products). These methods allow the preventive or eradicant action of the product studied to be determined with regard to the destructive agents of the wood in service, insects and fungi, and to check the probable permanence of this action.
