This standard specifies the requirements to be met by zinc coatings applied internally or externally to steel pipes by means of hot-dip galvanization, as well as assessment methods. The standard applies to steel pipes in accordance with NEN 2323 "Seamless stee; tubes. Dimensions and masses", NEN 2399 "Welded steel tubes. Dimensions and masses" and NEN 3257 "Steel tubes, suitable for screwing and sockets", that are protected against corrosion by internal and external zinc coatings. If the pipes are used for pipelines for cold or hot water it should be ckecked whether this use is allowed, with respect to the nature and use of the water to be transported. Galvanized steel pipes with diameters up to 60.3 mm in accordance with the above-mentioned standards can only be bent to a limited degree. Requirements for specific purposes can be agreed upon by suctomer and supplier.
