scope:
This part of EN 288 specifies the conditions for approval of welding procedure based on pre-production welding tests according to EN 288 part 1 clause 5. In addition it gives the range of approval and the validity. This standard applies to fusion welding of metallic materials. All processes given in relevant parts of EN 288 for welding procedure testing may be used. Other fusion welding processes may be accepted by agreement. These tests shall be carried out prior to and under the conditions to be used in production and simulate features, e.g. dimension, restraint, access, heating effects, buttering or cladding. Special test pieces to be welded shall be in accordance with the relevant application standard or shall be agreed between the contracting parties at the time of placing the order.
