Describes three test methods for measuring the polarization mode dispersion (PMD) of single-mode optical fibres of type B. method A: Fixed analyzer method Method B: Jones matrix eigen-analysis/state of polarization method Method C: Interferometric method. These methods can be applied to both short and long fibres in the limits of both zero and strong polarization mode coupling.
