NEN-EN 1043

Welding - Welded joints in metallic materials - Hardness testing

inactive, Most Current
Organization: NEN
Publication Date: 1 April 1993
Status: inactive
ICS Code (Welded joints and welds): 25.160.40
scope:

This standard describes hardness test on transverse sections of welded joints of metallic materials. It covers Vickers hardness tests in accordance with ISO 6507-1, normally with test loads of -49 N or - 98 N (HV 5 or HV 10). However, the principles may be applied to Brinell hardness testing (with similar testing loads) and micro hardness testing according to ISO 6507-2. Testing may be carried out either to ensure that the hardness falls below a maximum specified value (e.g. for steels) or to determine the extent and the degree of softening around a welded joint (e.g. aluminium alloys and quenched and tempered steels). The type and extent of testing shall be as specified by the relevant application standard or by agreement.
