This International Standard specifies a spectrophotometric method using reduced molybdosilicate for the determination of total silicon in steel and cast iron. The method is applicable to silicon contents between 0,05 and 1,0% (m/m) in steel and cast iron soluble in one or the other of the alternative acid mixtures.
