scope:

This standard applies to planchets made in well, flat and dish-type configurations used with nuclear instruments and intended for the mounting of specimens for radioactive assay. A dishtype planchet is distinguished from a well-type planchet by having a rim. This standard gives the standard values for the diameters, heights and wall thicknesses of planchets to ensure interchangeability of planchets, independent of source of supply. This standard does not preclude the use of other dimensions and shapes in special cases.
