Design for control rooms of nuclear power plants

inactive, Most Current
Organization: NEN
Publication Date: 1 November 1989
Status: inactive
Page Count: 136
ICS Code (Reactor engineering): 27.120.10
ICS Code (Nuclear power plants. Safety): 27.120.20
scope:

This standard establishes requirements for the man/machine interface in the main control rooms of nuclear power plants. The standard also establishes requirements for selection of functions, design considerations and organization of the man/machines interface and procedures which shall be used systematically to verify and validate the functional design. These requirements reflect the application of human engineering principles as they apply to the man/machine interface during normal and abnormal plant conditions. Some design guidance is given in Appendix A. This standard does not cover special purpose or normally unattended control systems, such as those provided for shutdown operations from outside the main control room for radioactive waste handling, or emergency response facilities. Detailed equipment design is outside the scope of this standard.
