Conditional access and menu control via D2B

inactive, Most Current
Organization: NEN
Publication Date: 1 September 1994
Status: inactive
Page Count: 80
ICS Code (Television receivers): 33.160.25
scope:

This document describes the method of exchanging the required data and control messages between a D2MAC decoder/descrambler in a device such as a television and one or more external Conditional Access SubSystems (CASS). This document specifies the data format and the control messages which are to be used for this purpose. This document also defines messages which enable the CASS to be controlled via a menu displayed on the television. Although this document is based around a descrambler in a television, the protocols described here are also applicable to a D2MAC descrambler in another type of device such as a VCR (with an integrated satellite tuner and descrambler) or a stand-alone satellite tuner (with an integrated descrambler). The protocols make it possible to share one or more decryptors. The diagram below shows the configuration to which this document applies.
