This European Standard specifies safety requirements and testing for design and construction of chain saws (portable hand held chain saws with combustion engine) for one man operation. It describes methods for the elimination or reduction of hazards arising from their use. Additionally it specifies the type of information to be provided by the manufacturer on safe working practices. List of significant hazards, which require action to reduce the risk, see annex A. This European Standard applies primarily to machines which are manufactured after the date of issue of the standard.
