This International Standard defines terms related to harnesses for Jacquard weaving machines used in the textile industry, with the aim of presenting a standardized, prescribed phraseology. It identifies the parts of, and positions on, the harness and establishes a nomenclature for those parts. Excepting special cases, the Jacquard machine is positioned such that the centre of hook insertion for the fully equipped Jacquard machine corresponds to . the centre of drawing-in width in weft direction (see definition 7), and . the centre of comberboard depth, drawing in warp direction (see definition 6). Where there are special rules for the manufacture of a harness, a hook distribution plan is necessary.
