This part of ISO 22745 contains an introduction to ISO 22745. An open technical dictionary (OTD) is a collection of technical concepts for coding master data. ISO 22745 defines a data model for a dictionary of such technical concepts, including the globally unambiguous identification of concepts, their terms, definitions and other auxiliary information about these concepts. It also provides a data model for master data coded using concepts from an OTD and for an identification guide (IG), which allows a receiving organization to specify its requirements for master data. The following are within the scope of ISO 22745: general principles; requirements for all OTDs; globally unambiguous identifier for concepts; data model and file format for an OTD; guidelines for the formulation of terminology within an OTD; structure of a dictionary maintenance organization; procedures for maintaining and updating an OTD; requirements for identification of concepts and terminology; data model and file format for IG; data model and file format for master data; guidelines for incorporating cataloguing data into ISO 10303 product data; structure of a registration authority that maintains a list of OTDs that comply with ISO 22745; procedures for maintaining a list of OTDs that comply with ISO 22745; location of a website containing a list of OTDs that comply with ISO 22745. The following are outside the scope of ISO 22745: content of OTDs. The following are within the scope of this part of ISO 22745: description of the scope of ISO 22745; requirements for all OTDs; explanation of how ISO 22745 can be used to satisfy the requirements of ISO 8000-110; description of the architecture of ISO 22745; summary of the content of the other parts of ISO 22745.
