scope:

This code of practice supplies instructions to preserve samples of water if kept for a certain time between sampling and analysis. It applies to chemical and physical examination of any kind of water. In general, the composition of the samples will change somewhat despite preservation. When this code is followed it is to be assumed that these changes will remain within the accuracy limits of the regulations. Depending on the nature of the sample this may in some cases also apply to longer storage periods.
