This standard specifies the particular requirements for thermal electrical relays used for motor protection. These requirements supplement those specified in the third level document, IEC Publication 255-8: Electrical Relays, Part 8: Thermal Electrical Relays, of which the relays which are the subject of this standard are a particular sub-family. Relays covered by IEC Publication 292: Low-voltage Motor Starters, are excluded. This standard applies only to relays in new condition.
