This standard applies to air conditioners with electrically driven compressors of the following types: comfort cooling air conditioners, single duct and spot air conditioners, close control air conditioners. This standard does not apply to continuously variable capacity control units. It specifies minimum requirements which ensure that an air conditioner is fitted for the use designated by the air conditioner manufacturer. Except otherwise stated, tests are described in the relevant parts of EN 814. This proposal also provide recommendations for the way the characteristics of air conditioners shall be specified by the manufacturer in order to assist users and manufacturers in the understanding and comparison of various types of air conditioners.
