This Recommendation lays down standards for sockets for electronic tubes and valves (further referred to as sockets) and for gauges that are needed to check those sockets (compatibility between socket and screening can will be dealt with later). It is not applicable to sockets with sidewiping contacts. To establish uniform requirements for judging the mechanical, electrical and climatic properties of sockets, to describe test methods and to give recommendations for standard dimensions and classification into groups according to their ability to withstand extremes of temperature, humidity, pressure or mechanical stress.
