This standard applies to the identification and marking of terminals of electrical equipment such as resistors, fuses, relays, contractors, transformers, rotating machines and, whenever applicable, to combinations of such equipment. It also applies to the identification of terminations of certain designated conductors. The object of this standard is to summarize the various methods which shall be employed for the identification of equipment terminals and to define general rules for an alphanumeric system for the identification of equipment terminals and if terminations of certain designated conductors as listed in Table 1 of Clause 5.
