This standard describes a titrimetric method to determine the total hardness and the content of calcium and magnesium ions in water. It applies to any kind of water with a total hardness of at least 5 µ mol/l(<=^> 0.01mg/l), a calcium content of at least 1 mg/l and a magnesium content of at least 1 mg/l/ This method is usually not suitable for waste water.
