Specifies the ventilation requirements for closed charging areas (garages) used for the purpose of parking and recharging Electric Vehicles. Applies to charging of all kinds of traction batteries with aqueous electrolyte, such as Lead Acid and Nickel-Cadmium. Also provides guidance for the ventilation of the battery inside the battery container and outlines some safety features of relevance for the battery charger. Closed parking/charging areas for Electric Vehicles shall also comply with the requirements of national Regulations in force for IC vehicles, where existing. Concerning ventilation requirements, compliance with this Standard does usually encompasses conformity to the above Regulations.
