Is applicable to high-voltage cables of all types. Lays down the conditions and procedure for carrying out impulse tests, with a view for rationalizing the practice in different laboratories, and the thus to facilitate valid comparisous between the results obtained on cables made to different specifications. Applies solely to the methods ofcarrying out the tests as such independenthy of the problem of selecting the test levels to be specified. Describes in a separate section the procedure for carrying out tests above the withstand level for resarch purposes.
