scope:
Applies to insulator strings and insulator sets comprising string units of ceramic material or glass for use with a nominal voltage greater than 1000 V and a frequency not greater than 100 Hz. Also applies to insulator strings and insulator sets for use on d.c. overhead electric traction lines or those of similar design when used in substations. The object is to prescribe standard electrical test procedures and acceptance criteria to verify the defined characteristics of insulator strings and insulator sets falling within the scope of this part.
