This standard contains requirements and test methods for the most widely used iron oxide pigments. The standard applies to various iron oxide pigments for use in paint. These pigments can be distinguished in: - groups, according to their colour; - categories, accordingto the iron content, calculated as iron (III) oxide; - types, according to the content of ingredients soluble in water and the content of chlorides and sulphates soluble in water, calculated as CI- and SO42-; - kinds, according to the sieving residue. The test methods are mainly intended for cases for arbitration. They concern the original pigment and can only be under some restrictions be applied to pigments precipitated from combinations with vehicles.
