Gives the design principles and specifies the performance requirements for raw wastewater pumping facilities, for use on the inlet arrangement for treatment plants. The primary applications is for wastewater treatment plants designed for the treatment of domestic and municipal wastewater, excluding significant amounts of industrial wastewater of a non biodegradable nature and surface water there practicable. Where gravity feed is impractical, pumping is used to lift raw wastewater from the sewer outlet to the inlet of a treatment plant. Pumping may be effected using any of the following types of pumps; bucket feeder, centrifugal, screw, ejector, progressive cavity, air lift or vacuum lift. Installation may be of either the dry or wet well variety as required.
