This European standard establishes the safety requirements that apply to prevention and fight against fire in cableway installations designed to carry persons. This standard defines safety principles relating to design, operation and maintenance. Unmanned installations at control posts or stations are governed by the safety principles set out in Clause 4. However, the specifications defined in the following articles shall be adapted, particularly if personnel are absent from the installation. This standard covers requirements relating to the prevention of accidents and protection for workers, without prejudicing the application of national regulations. National requirements relating to the construction sector, and provisions of a regulatory nature or which are intended to provide protection to particular groups of people remain unchanged. This standard does not apply to cableway installations for the transportation of goods nor to lifts.
