This standard applies to motor contacters having the following characteristics: rated voltage 380 (415) V three phase alternating current of 50 Hz frequency; a life of one million electrical operations at a rate which can be, for example, 120 operations per hour for category AC3 according to IEC publication 158-1(1970); a power not exceding 11 kW. It is recommended that these regulations should also be applied, when technically possible, the motor having other characteristics.
