This standard applies to all audible and visual warning devices used in intruder, and theft alarm systems in buildings and secure areas, with the exception of primary battery powered units and speakers with no built in driving circuit. This standard specifies the design and construction guidelines for the devices listed under clause 1. Introduction, but does not intend to classify type of risk and it remains the responsibility of specifiers to determine which level of performance and attack resistance should apply for specific installations.
