This pre-standard describes the sample preparation of vegetables and fruit for the purpose of radioactivity measurements. The pre-standard is meant to be used in the examination of vegetables and fruit. One should start with vegetable and fruit samples taken in accordance with NVN 5633. The method described is suitable for use in case of accidents, but can also be used for background monitoring. After the sample preparation described in this pre-standard the sample is fit for various measurements, for example measurements of the gamma radioactivity in accordance with NVN 5623 or NVN 5629 or for measuring specific radionuclides (e.g. NVN 5637).
