This pre-standard describes the sampling preparation of soil, sediment and sludge on behalf of radioactivity measurements. Use pre-standard 5691 for the sampling of soil; the code of practice 6600 for the sampling of sediment and pre-standard 5690 for the sampling of sludge. The method can be used for accidents, but also for background detection. After the sampling preparation according to this pre-standard 5695, the sample is suitable for various measurements, for example gamma activity acccording to pre-standard 5623 or 5629 or for the measurement of specific radionuclides (for example according to pre-standard 5637).
