This standard specifies a method for the determination of the natural radioactivity of a batch of stony building materials using semiconductor gamma-ray spectrometry. The standard includes sampling, sample preparation, preparation of counting samples, performing the test including energy calibration and calibration of counting efficiency, determination of counting efficiency, recording and analysis of the spectrum and calculation of the activities of the radionuclides radium-226, radium-22 8 , thorium-228 and potassium-40 and, finally, processing the re sults.
