scope:

This standard specifies functional requirements for the dimensions and the design of office work desks (hereafter called desks), taking into account ergonomic principles. Besides desks that can only be used in sitting position this standard also specifies requirements for desks that can both be used sitting and standing (hereafter called sit-stand desks. This standard is applicable to desks and sit-stand desks that are used in office rooms. NPR 1813 gives information on what type of desk can be used for what purpose in the office. This standard does not apply to desks and tables that are intended for special tasks (for example work at counters and booking office windows) nor to low tables and other furniture that does not belong to one of the above-mentioned categories.
