scope:
1.1 This standard is intended to be used to characterize the aerodynamic aerosol
performance of a liquid delivery device designed for use with a non-specific class of
active pharmaceutical ingredient(s). It applies to general purpose nebulizing systems
intended to deliver liquids in an aerosol form to humans through the respiratory system.
1.2 This International Standard includes gas-powered nebulizers which may be
derived from e.g. compressors, pipeline systems, cylinders etc., or electricallypowered
nebulizers (e.g. ultrasonic and membrane devices) or manually-powered
nebulizers.
1.3 *This International Standard does not apply to devices intended for nasal
deposition.
