This standard specifies requirements for classification of solid wire electrodes and deposited metal in the as-welded condition for gas metal arc welding of carbon steels, carbon-manganese steels and micro alloyed steels with a minimum yield strength of up to 500 N/mm². One wire electrode may be tested and classified with different gases.
