This standard describes a method for the sample preparation of dried milk for the purpose of radioactivity measurements. The standard can also be used for other powdered food products (e.g. dried whey, casein). The standard starts from milk sampled in accordance with NVN 5640. The method described is suitable for use in case of accidents but can also be used for background monitoring. The dried sample can be used for various radioactivity measurements, e.g. gamma spectrometry, or, after calcination, to determine total alpha, total beta or specific radionuclides.
