This standard relates to single-turn rotary precision potentiometers intended for use in electronic equipment. These may be either servo or manually operated. Other types of potentiometers are dealt with in separate sectional specifications. The objects of the standard is to prescribe preferred ratings and characteristcs, to select from IEC Publication 393-1 the appropriate methods of test and to give general performance requirements for potentiometers falling within this scope. Test severities and requirements prescribed in detail specifications referring to this sectional specification have to be of equal or higher performance level, because degradations are normally not permitted.
