Water - Titrimetric determination of carbon dioxide

active
Organization: NEN
Publication Date: 1 August 1984
Status: active
Page Count: 8
ICS Code (Examination of water for chemical substances): 13.060.50
scope:

This standard describes a titrimetric method for the determination of the carbon dioxide content of water. The standard applies to drinking water with a similar composition. The water may contain no other base-consuming ingredients in addition to carbon dioxide. The presence of organic base-consuming ingredients can be neglected if the water contains less than 0.5 mmol/l (6 mg/l) of organic carbon. Calcium and iron can interfere. The extent of the interference depends on the hydrogen carbonate content and the presence of complex formers. The carbon dioxide content may be at least 0.023 mmol/l (1 mg/l) and 23 mmol/l (1000 mg/l) at the most.
