This European Standard specifies the requirements for solid wall pipes, fittings and the system of unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U) piping systems intended to be used for general purpose direct buried ducting. It also specifies the test parameters for the test methods referred to in this standard. EN 14283 is applicable to PVC-U pipes and fittings, their joints and to joints with components of other plastics and non-plastics materials intended to be used for general purpose buried ducting. EN 14283 is applicable to only solid-wall PVC-U pipes of the following types: . with plain ends; . with integral or sleeve type cemented solvent cement socket; . with integral tapered push-fit socket; . with integral ring seal socket, without or with a coating for internal lubrication, a colour coating or a coating for other identification purposes and to fittings that are fabricated from pipes and/or mouldings, including pipes and fittings with nominal outside diameters specified in annex A.
