scope:
This standard describes the method of atomic absorption spectrometry with cold vapour technique for the determination of the content of mercury. This standard is part of NEN 7320 as well as NEN 7340 and is applicable to filtered destillates and eluates of solid earthy and stony building and waste materials. For a specification of the materials and elements is referred to NEN 7320. The determination of the content of mercury in the solid material take place after destruction with a mixture of nitric acid and hydrochloric acid according to an adjusted form of NEN 6465, described in NEN 7320, Annex 5.2.1. The determination of the content of mercury takes places in combination with the performance of leaching tests according to NEN 7340.
