This European Standard specifies safety requirements and testing for design and construction of the different types of mounted, trailed or self-propelled silage cutters for one operator only, including: - vertical knife block type silage cutters, - horizontal knife block type silage cutters, - straw type silage cutters, - mixing silage cutters, - straw choppers when used as silage cutters. It describes methods for the elimination or reduction of hazards arising from their use. Additionally, it specifies the type of information to be provided by the manufacturer on safe working practices. The list of significant hazards which require action to reduce the risk is given in annex A. It does not cover hazards affecting the environment.
