scope:
This standard lays down: a. Standard conditions under which air coolers have to be tested and for which the data on the performance of the air coolers have to be supplied. These standard conditions are representative for circumstances encountered in practice. b. Rules for: 1. the determination of the performance of air coolers by measurements under conditions determined by the standard conditions;2. the supply of data concerning the performance of air coolers in catalogues, prospectuses, etc. The standard treats the experimental determination of the quantities characteristic of the performance of an air cooler under different operational circumstances. The standard applies to frosted air coolers with a dry cooling power greater than 1 kW under the standard conditions at which the cooler is offered, that use a (evaporating) coolant or a (non-evaporating) cold carriers, and in which one or more ventilators maintain a one-way blowing horizontal air flow through the cooling block. The standard only applies to air coolers intended for one of the following defrosting methods: a. electric defrosting; b. defrosting with hot liquid; c. defrosting with compressed gas; d. defrosting by means of air flow. This standard does not apply to, for example, cooling blocks intended to be built into air flow channels and other equipment and to coolers that are shut off during defrosting.
