This Standard specifies the physical dimensions and minimum design requirements of the electrical cable ptug and receptacle conforming to SAE Standard J560b, to achieve interchangeability with electrical connectors of different manufacture.
These connectors are used with cable described in SAE Standard J1067 and wired for service as shown in Table 1 (as per ASAE Standard 5279.9).
The location zone for mounting of the receptacle on the towing vehicle as per ASAE Standard 5279.9 is included in this Standard.
The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. Values given in parentheses are provided for information only. However, for historical reasons, imperial dimensions are used in Figures 1, 2, and 3 with the SI equivalents being supplied for information only.
