This document applies to all Network Rail employees and their contractors who are involved with the Disposal of Network Rail Assets.
These Assets might include:
a) track and Infrastructure Materials
b) cable;
c) structures at stations or architectural salvage;
d) signs;
e) re-locatable buildings;
f) signal boxes and their equipment;
g) other signalling or telecoms equipment
h) artefacts or records designated (Designated Assets) and therefore protected under the Railway Heritage Act 1996
This document does not apply to
a) land or buildings (not named above);
b) rail vehicles, rolling stock and on track plant
c) road vehicles d) information technology Assets;
e) office furniture or equipment unless RHDAB designated and therefore protected under the Railway Heritage Act 1996;
f) office, industrial or general waste;
g) materials or goods that belong to contractors
Purpose
This document process sets out the rules governing the Disposal of Redundant Assets. It enables Network Rail to do this efficiently and effectively to meet its safety, regulatory, financial and HM Treasury obligations.
